Knowing Where Your Data Lives (Social)

The Project

For Knox Systems, a repeat RaffertyWeiss client serving the federal technology market, we produced a thought-leadership interview on a deceptively simple question: does your agency know where its data lives? The speaker, drawing on experience at the Department of Veterans Affairs, explains why data visibility is the foundation of zero trust, cloud modernization and responsible AI. This social version brings the core of that conversation to short-form channels.

Our Approach

The video uses a straightforward interviewer-and-expert format, letting each question set up one clear idea. Together they walk through the issues federal IT leaders face:

  • Data sprawl: unlabeled copies and non-authoritative sources can produce conflicting analytics and reporting
  • Cloud and SaaS visibility: agencies lose the access they had on premises, which makes discovery tools such as BigID essential
  • Automation and zero trust: there is simply too much data to categorize and govern by hand
  • FedRAMP: cloud tools must be authorized before agencies can use them
  • Cost: redundant and stale data drives up cloud storage bills
  • AI: keeping PII and protected health information out of training data and prompts

One example makes the stakes personal: the speaker notes that, coming from VA, the healthcare data of veterans should never end up in what trains a model. Grounding a technical subject in a mission audiences recognize keeps it from feeling abstract. The social cut keeps the pace brisk so the key takeaways land in a feed.
